My approach

Compassionate

My first goal is that you feel heard, understood, and supported. By the time families come to my office, they have often had a difficult road. Asking for help is hard. I take time to make my clients comfortable and am flexible to meet their needs.

Comprehensive

I have an extensive test library of the most up-to-date tests available to answer the specific questions you have about yourself or your child. I leave no stone unturned, and my reports are known to be thorough.

Collaborative

I consider you the expert of your experience and the person who knows your child best. When we combine your expertise of yourself (or your child) with my expertise in psychology, it’s amazing what we can accomplish! I also collaborate with other professionals, including teachers, tutors, therapists, and physicians, to ensure the insights gleaned from the assessment are put into practice.

Dr. Scearce Explains: What makes my practice different?

I started this practice to use psychological assessment to improve the quality of life for Triangle families. Different providers work in different ways, and what works for one family may not work for yours. Here are some features that define my practice:

  • Focused. I limit my schedule so that I can dedicate my energy and time to each family that I work with.

  • Comprehensive. Because I am out of network with insurance companies, I am not constrained by their time limits. This means that I have time to conduct thorough record reviews, ease into the session to make your child comfortable, schedule flexibly and allow breaks as you or your child requires, consult with other professionals, write personalized assessment reports, and follow up with families and professionals.

  • Tailored. The tests I choose are tailored to your concerns. I do not use the same tests for every client; I select the most appropriate tests for the specific questions you have. Similarly, the assessment report is tailored specifically for you to answer your questions and guide your next steps. Click here to see common questions an assessment can help you answer.

  • Personal. I do all my own scheduling, testing, scoring, and report-writing. This means that when you call my office, you talk directly with me. I also do not work with technicians or students. I work one-on-one with you or your child and complete all aspects of the evaluation personally.

  • Specialized. I’m trained in many specialized tests (like the ADOS-2, a test for autism spectrum disorder, and the Rorschach, a projective test) that not all psychologists are trained in.

See what families are saying

“Thank you so much for the thorough evaluation on S. Your detailed report is ‘healing’ in itself to see in writing S.’s strengths and areas to work on and how we can specifically support him…Most importantly, we shared the report with S. and read it aloud for all of us to process this valuable information as a family. Thank you for your expertise. We are so grateful!”

“Thank you so much for all of your time and energy with this - it’s greatly appreciated. We now feel like we have a plan of attack.”
